Embodied Social Justice

At Vital Moves we make an effort to be inclusive and accessible in all our offerings. The pay structure is flexible, with everything offered with a sliding scale of payments. Some of my offerings you can attend freely if you identify as being part of a group that is marginalised or underrepresented in conscious dance. This is inline with the values of Open Floor International, OFI and the International Conscious Movement Teachers Association, ICMTA

  •  Inviting Ability-Diversity to our Dance Floors

How can we expand awareness of the diverse abilities that may be present on the dance floor. I ask myself, how can I adapt my teaching practices to be more inclusive?

In this article Erin shares valuable perspectives to promote justice, equity and diversity in conscious movement spaces with the most enormous intelligence and generosity. She's one of the people holding my hand as I increase my own learning.

Vital Moves Fair Pricing Policy

According to my commitment to make my offerings financially accessible, I offer 4 pricing tiers to support economic justice.

Please take a few moments to pause, read the price descriptions, check out the Wheel of Power/Privilege below, and assess which rate suits your circumstances best.

1. FAIR RATE

This rate covers the basic costs of running the workshop/course/sessions, ensuring they remain viable. It's for individuals who can comfortably meet their financial needs and wish to contribute fairly.

This rate is for you if:

  • You can cover your basic living expenses, such as rent or mortgage.

  • You can afford new purchases, experiences, or occasional travel.

  • You have enough income to join professional development programmes or courses.

2. SUPPORTING RATE

By choosing this rate, you help make Vital Moves offerings more accessible for others by supporting those who need financial assistance through lower-cost options. This rate also ensures sustainability while helping those in need.

This rate is for you if:

  • You live comfortably without financial stress.

  • You have investments or savings that offer financial security.

  • You have access to emergency funds when needed.

  • You are committed to making the work accessible to others by contributing more.

3. GENEROSITY RATE

This rate allows you to go beyond basic support, helping Vital Moves to thrive and innovate. It also supports subsidised places and lower rates for those facing financial hardship.

This rate is for you if:

  • You are financially stable and able to contribute more than the supporting rate.

  • Your company covers part or all of your participation.

  • You are passionate about creating opportunities for others to join in.

4. ACCESSIBLE RATE

This rate is for participants who are socially and/or economically challenged. Contributions from higher-rate participants help subsidise this option.

This rate is for you if:

  • You are member of a marginalised community.

  • You are facing financial instability, such as unemployment or housing challenges.

  • You live paycheque-to-paycheque/income is roughly equivalent to your expenses and struggle to afford extras.

  • Without this rate, you would not be able to join.

5. OPEN FLOOR TEACHERS - We have limited discounted places (20% off the Fair Rate).

 Things I’m currently inspired by

I’m full of gratitude for all the artists, writers, thinkers, and creators out there who continually enthuse me with new perspectives, visions, and joyful responses to life. Here’s a selection of what is inspiring me at the moment.

What’s inspiring me

The lyrics in this uplift my spirit, supported by an array of fantastic instruments. Same Kind of People by Bukahara.

What I’m listening to

This is one of my favourite tracks to dance to of the year so far, Apache (Let the Bass go) by Basic Rhythm

What I’m watching

I watched the film Harriet which is a biography of the abolitionist of enslaved peoples. I then bought the incredible soundtrack.

What I’m reading

Your Resonant Self by Sarah Peyton, an invitation ‘into self-warmth through a powerful healing technology called resonance’.

The latest on Deborah’s YouTube channel

For those of you who absorb information more easily by watching and listening than reading, my YouTube channel is full of videos from participants in my groups and snippets from me.

They’re all about the essential practice of embodied exploration of our responses to life events and our relationship with ourselves, other humans and the beyond human world.
